Origin and Founder
Hinduism is the major religion of India. There is no identifiable founder, no strong organizational structure nor any creed to define and stabilize its beliefs in a single divine reality. The first human to receive the sacred text is Manu, in some sense he is believed to be the founder of the tradition. But it is important to note that he is not the author of the text, just the recipient. The Mahabharata expresses Manu as the pioneer of all future Hindus.
One creation story expressed is before time there was no heaven, earth or space just nothing. Just a giant cobra swimming with Lord Vishnu, the cobra kept him safe so he could sleep peacefully. A sound started (ohm) that grew louder and louder to fill the emptiness. The noise drove all the emptiness away. When lord Vishnu woke up a lotus flower was growing from his navel. In the middle of the flower there was Brahma, God of creation. Brahma was told by Lord Vishnu to create the earth. Brahma split the lotus flower to make three different parts heavens, earth and the skies. Brahma created everything such as trees, plants and animals. He let the world evolve so the animals could see, hear, move and feel. The world was alive with love and filled with the sounds of Braham creation. Hindus have many ways of thinking about God; he has different names for different things.
